An Upcoming Excellent
Marz Auctions Coming Soon

I haven't been blogging lately as I was in Mexico over the holidays.
My brother and sister, together with their spouses met my wife and
I in Cancun, Mexico. My brother and sister moved from Quebec long ago, and
relocated to Alberta and Ontario respectively. We see each other every so often,
sometimes each year,  and sometimes longer.

The weather was fine, the company was excellent,
as was the food. Best of all, the Mexican People were nice and helpful. The hotel staff
was wonderful, and always worked hard to help us with whatever we asked.
Wherever we went, we were always greeted with smiles and a motivation to help us
with any needs that we might have.

I hadn't written a Marz Auction Post in a while, and so I wanted to write a post for them today. Their next upcoming auction is coming soon.

It will be starting on February 22, 2025 on LiveAuctioneers.

What I've noticed over the years that I've blogged (14 years and counting) is the
excellent photography that Marz Auctions presents for their merchandise.
Diffused lighting from electronic flash lighting heads creates a nice soft lighting,
and reduced contrast. The photographer doesn't have to worry about losing detail
(what you see) in the shadows, and the bright areas (called highlights) are not too
bright, so as to lose detail from over-exposure.

Description:

"Large  Dayton Toys Number 530 top-up touring car. Toy at 13.7 inches (34.798 cm)
in length with working friction driver at rear. The toy was made circa 1911.
Good used original condition with darkening and added varnish.

Description:

"Circa 1909 Dayton Toys Touring Car with red body and gold hand-painted
accents. The toy comes with replacement riders and an unusual wood shift knob.
Original paint with flaking and play wear.
11" long (27.94 cm)

So that's it for today, and thanks for dropping by to read this post.If you go to Marz Auctions' LiveAuctioneers website, you will see a wonderful collection of old toys going top auction. Better still, you will learn a lot about each and every toy. Marz Auctions' writers for the toy descriptions are experienced and knowledgeable about the toys going to auction. You can learn a lot about toys from them, and that's part and parcel of collecting toys and learning.

So that's it for today.
It's amazing to return home, here in Montreal,Quebec,Canada
to a temperature of
-16° C / 3.2° F, when yesterday, it was 28° C / 82.4° F.

At least it's the beginning of February, the days are getting longer in the
amount of daylight, and in a month, the weather will be even warmer.

Thanks for dropping by to visit my blog,
and as always, have a great part of the day or night,
wherever you may be.

A Unique Toy
For Someone Special

If you want to see lots and lots of toys, you should go to Liveauctioneers
on the Internet. Many of the toy auctioneers are now on this website, and so is
Bayside Auctions.

Bayside Auctions specializes also "in jewelry, antiques, vintage toys,
and fine decorative arts. Our auctions consist of consignment and
estate treasures found across the Eastern Shore of Maryland & Delaware".

They have been positively highly rated on Liveauctioneers.

The auction also consists of many other interesting items, especially vintage comic books. I have never seen so many comic books being auctioned at one time.
So if you are a comic book aficionado (someone very enthusiastic about something), this auction will definitely appeal to you!

I haven't written a post about them in a while, so I decided to see
what nice toys I would find on their site. I saw lots of nice toys,
but this one that I'm presenting is
"something special for someone special".

Description:

1960's Wonder Bread Advertising
Store Display Truck

"Vintage 1960's Winder Break Truck lighted advertising store display/sign.
Lights tested and working featuring blinking lights.Rolls on wheels.
Made of metal and press board.

Truck measures
59" x 31" x 33.25" Unfolded,
and 60" x 30" x 16" when Folded Up.

In metric, the dimensions are:

149.86 cm x 78.74 cm x 84.455 cm Unfolded
and 152.4 cm x 76.2 cm x 40.64 cm Folded Up

Well, you certainly don't see this special Wonder Bread Truck every day,
so I'm sure, someone wanting this very rare item will be bidding for it.

So that's all for today.

Thanks for dropping by, and as always:

An Exceptional Bertoia Auction of European Dolls, Steiff Bears, and Wonderful Gottschalt Houses and more

An Exceptional Bertoia Auction of European Dolls,
Steiff Bears, Wonderful Gottschalt Houses and More

One of the first companies that gave me their permission to write about them
and the wonderful auctions that they had was Bertoia Auctions. I was ecstatic,
because I would now be able to write about wonderful toys that I had not seen before.

The auction that I'm writing about today immediately caught my attention.
The auction will have a myriad of many different toys. However, it's the amazing doll houses that caught my eye. Each of the doll houses that will be presented at the auction has many photographs. Whomever took the photographs, as well as the Bertoia family working alongside, really outdid themselves with the excellent photography.

For today's post, I decided to select just one dollhouse and let the photographs
show the  very fine photography, both technically with lighting and focus, but
mores o in the specific close-ups and details.

Item Details

Description:
Auction Number: 148
LARGE GOTTSCHALK HOUSE l No. 3594/4  (referenced on page 64
Moritz Gottschalk 1892-1931? Verlag Marianne Cieslik. One of the largest models
offered by the infamous company. This impressive house has a front opening section to
the center hall with painted walls and closet under the staircase. The two sides open to two large rooms in each, one on the left with a closet in the upper room. The room retain original floor and wall papers with period silk and lace curtains. The exterior is covered with lithographed paper with faux brick, stone and lattice with painted wood detailing including wood window and door trim, porch columns and eaves and of course the trademark blue roof.  |  40" wide, 21.5" deep to base of bay wind  |   The exterior has had some meticulous conservation including some touch up papers, replaced painted arch top glass panels and the addition of some metal flourishes to the front and gilt metal weather vanes to roof as well as a feline | $5,000- $10,000

My favourite photo was the one above of the cat. Whomever
had decided to place a cat on the banister must have been an excellent
designer of  these fine toy houses. The cat added that "extra" that made
the house all the more real and enjoyable, even after all those years.

So that's it for today,
Thanks. for visiting my blog.

As always have a great part of the morning, afternoon, or evening,
wherever you may be.

The RSL Auction at its 'Best

The RSL Auction Company at its' Best

Several Years ago, when I was already blogging for about 10 years,  I came across an auction company that I did not know. There are 3 partners, with a successful history of auctioneering, as well as lots of experience in toys.

Their names are Mr. Ray Haradin, Mr. Steven Weiss, and Mr. Leon Weiss.

I wrote to the company and asked for permission to use their photos, and to write about toys. I got their permission, and as the expression goes,
"the rest is history".

What I've noticed over the years is that the team has increasingly
become better and better as an auction company. They've expanded by
buying another auction company, and the photography changed for the better.
Items are photographed on a white base and background (seamless paper)
with soft lighting. What this does is avoid photographs that have
too much contrast, so that detail is not lost in those darker areas.
As such, the photography can be done faster, especially when photographing
a large catalogue of items going to auction.

They also have catalogues that can be download for potential bidders,
and they are even on Meta (formerly Facebook).

I only selected one item for today, in oder to illustrate what I already wrote.
I'll also add that for this cast iron bank, they took lots of photographs to show
all of the details, and condition of the bank.

Item Details
(Description)

"J. & E. Stevens Company, Cromwell, CT - 1883.
Watching the tumbling acrobats at the circus is a wonderment that never fails
to please the crowd. This dynamically colored bank aims to recreate that
"mouth agape" experience. Pressing the lever causes the taller man to
flip up and kick his partner in the stomach, sending him into a backflip,
which engages the trigger for coin deposit."

This fine bank was estimated to be purchased
at between (2500- $3500) US Dollars.

It sold for $ 4000.00.

Hard work pays off!

I hope you visit the entire auction on LiveAuctioneers.
There were lots of interesting toys besides the banks, and if you're
interested in toys, you can learn a lot from visiting the websites of
The RSL Auction Company site and LiveAuctioneers.

So that's it for today.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and as always, have a great part
of the day or night, wherever you my be.
