An Upcoming Excellent
Marz Auctions Coming Soon

I haven't been blogging lately as I was in Mexico over the holidays.
My brother and sister, together with their spouses met my wife and
I in Cancun, Mexico. My brother and sister moved from Quebec long ago, and
relocated to Alberta and Ontario respectively. We see each other every so often,
sometimes each year,  and sometimes longer.

The weather was fine, the company was excellent,
as was the food. Best of all, the Mexican People were nice and helpful. The hotel staff
was wonderful, and always worked hard to help us with whatever we asked.
Wherever we went, we were always greeted with smiles and a motivation to help us
with any needs that we might have.

I hadn't written a Marz Auction Post in a while, and so I wanted to write a post for them today. Their next upcoming auction is coming soon.

It will be starting on February 22, 2025 on LiveAuctioneers.

What I've noticed over the years that I've blogged (14 years and counting) is the
excellent photography that Marz Auctions presents for their merchandise.
Diffused lighting from electronic flash lighting heads creates a nice soft lighting,
and reduced contrast. The photographer doesn't have to worry about losing detail
(what you see) in the shadows, and the bright areas (called highlights) are not too
bright, so as to lose detail from over-exposure.

Description:

"Large  Dayton Toys Number 530 top-up touring car. Toy at 13.7 inches (34.798 cm)
in length with working friction driver at rear. The toy was made circa 1911.
Good used original condition with darkening and added varnish.

Description:

"Circa 1909 Dayton Toys Touring Car with red body and gold hand-painted
accents. The toy comes with replacement riders and an unusual wood shift knob.
Original paint with flaking and play wear.
11" long (27.94 cm)

So that's it for today, and thanks for dropping by to read this post.If you go to Marz Auctions' LiveAuctioneers website, you will see a wonderful collection of old toys going top auction. Better still, you will learn a lot about each and every toy. Marz Auctions' writers for the toy descriptions are experienced and knowledgeable about the toys going to auction. You can learn a lot about toys from them, and that's part and parcel of collecting toys and learning.

So that's it for today.
It's amazing to return home, here in Montreal,Quebec,Canada
to a temperature of
-16° C / 3.2° F, when yesterday, it was 28° C / 82.4° F.

At least it's the beginning of February, the days are getting longer in the
amount of daylight, and in a month, the weather will be even warmer.

Thanks for dropping by to visit my blog,
and as always, have a great part of the day or night,

A Beautiful Ironman Toys Reproduction Arcade Bus Comes up For Auction

A Beautiful Ironman Toys Reproduction
Arcade Bus Comes up for Auction
at Marz Auctions

Lately, my next blog is decided by looking at whom I haven't written about
recently. When I find someone, I then go to their website and select the latest auction, or future auction. From there, I then select a group of toys to write about,
or  select one toy, and that's how today's blog post evolved.

I selected a nice bus from Marz Auctions, an auctioneers company. They are
affiliated with Antique Toys Inc., another toy auctioneer. Both are very good companies who have established themselves in the old toy business.

I selected a toy, which I thought was an old Arcade cast iron toy from
a long-ago company by the name of Arcade*

However, as it turned out, this toy was a reproduction.
Description and history of this nice toy from Antique Toys Inc.

"Ironman Toys is a business created by Arnie Prince in California to help
with cast iron toy restoration. His company spun off to make extremely limited
and custom toys in the 80's,90's, and 2000's. He created his own Chevy Roadster, cast iron  motorcycles, and reimagined Ford roadsters (among many others). Arnie is considered one of the best restoration artists, and a premier toymaker.
His toys have been rising in price as collectors enjoy the metal art."

Length:  12.5 inches / 31.75 cm

    The Northland Greyhound bus company
was bought by someone, and became Greyhound Lines.
(Courtesy of Marz Auctions*).

So that's my blog post for today.

Have a look at both Marz Auctions and AntiqueToys.com
Both companies sell old toys, with well-written
descriptions, and excellent photography, and AntiqueToys.com
is also a great website to learn about toys and the history of the many
different companies from "times gone by".

Thanks for dropping by,
and as always,
have a great part of the day or night,
wherever you may be.

Marz Auctions- Part II
Auction Date: October 26, 2024
on Liveauctioneers

This is the second post for the the upcoming Marz Auctions Auction on
LiveAuctioneers that will appear on October 26, 2024. The item below caught my attention in several ways. First, this is a beautiful toy that was modelled on a GM (General Motors USA) bus. Secondly, for a relatively modern reproduction of the GM Streamliner, the bidding as of today had risen quite dramatically.

As of  12:00 P.M. EST, Sunday, October 20,2024,
the highest, so far, has reached$ 2200.00 US Dollars.

If you read the description below, you'' see
that only 12 of these exceptional Futureliners models
were manufactured, with only 9 still known to exist as of 2007.

So that's it for today. I only added this exceptional rare toy,
because I didn't want any distractions from other toys.

By all means, please visit this Marz Auction, because there are many very interesting toys to be found for this auction.

Thanks for dropping by,
and as always, have a great part of the day,
wherever you may be.

An Exceptional Marklin Battleship
Comes to a Marz Auction

I was browsing LiveAuctioneers, and decided to see what Marz Auctions was presenting
in their latest auction. Their upcoming Auction is on October 26, 2024. Sure enough after a few minutes, my eye caught an exceptional toy.

It is a Marklin Battleship from 1904 named the "Olympia"

The Marz Auctions Description is below:

You don't see a toy like this every day, and I can't even imagine how much it weighs!
Imagine the child that received this toy 120 years ago?

I like the excellent photography that the Marz Auctions photographer(s) do.
Moreover, there are lots of photographs to go along with the written description.
There are still more photographs on LiveAuctioneers or their website for anyone to view.

So that's it for today. Of course, there are lots more interesting toys
up for sale on this auction,
but I wanted to present this unique toy by itself.

As always, thanks for dropping by,
and have a great part of the day or nigh,
wherever you may be.

This is my second post about Marz Auctions. I had "discovered" this fine company on LiveAuctioneers, and asked for permission to write about them and their fine toys. What attracted me to their January 16, 2024 auction were several qualities. The first was the fine photography, followed by very interesting toys that I normally don't see at auctions. Finally, their written descriptions were well-written and provided nice information for readers.

Above:
"Large Hubley Toys Cast Iron Coupe (Lancaster, Pennsylvania)
Great mid-1920's bug-eyed coupe. Difficult to find a very large Hubley Coupe,
circa 1925. Toy appears to be all original, with great nickel-plated driver

Above:
"One of a kind item! This is a custom wood hand-made Jeep and driver that
was made by someone in Belgium. It was given to a sergeant just after the war
was over and Europe was liberated. It has a motor in front, but does not work.
The figure is also hand-carved. The Jeep measures 15" long x 6.5" wide. The windshield folds down. The chassis is not attached to the frame. The driver is 9" tall and
semi-poseable. A great face smoking a cigar. The canvas roof can also be closed.

Above:
"Rare Hubley Cast Iron Airflow Coupe circa 1935

This car was restored, and is very difficult to find Hubley cast iron Chrysler
with light detailing (no lever present). Toy comes restored in proper blue and silver, with original tires. Approx. 6.25" long

Above:
Lehmann Coach with Driver toy Tin Litho (Lithographed)
Has some wear. Wind-up does not work
Length: 5"
Above:
1950's Unique Art Lil' Abner Band Tin Litho
Wind-up Works

Above:
"Outstanding Lead Football Team,
Figures in Blue and red, Barclay Style.
Outstanding and early lead football teams ready for auction. Toys likely made of lead,
in the Barclay solder style. Sixteen hollow cast figures hand painted we have never seen another set. Figures approximately 3" when standing."

Above:
Great group of vintage cap guns in display case.
All are in good working order.
Kilgore, Gene Autry, and more.

Above:
"Antique European hand carved puppet dating to the early 1900's.This gentleman
features a wood head with detailed carving and hand painting of his beard, hair, and facial features. He is dressed in a hand sewn costume that includes a large attached cape. Elaborage clothing. with hat features metal sequins and metallic rickrack trim throughout.
Unique, as the large waistband piece is actually pieces of a zipper. Costume of silk, cotton, and velvet.  The wooden head piece is approximately 6 1/2" (16.51 cm) in length and
3 3/4" (9.525 cm) in width. The length of the entire doll is 21"(53.34 centimetres)
(There is a much more expanded description on LiveAuctioneers)

Above:
" Antique Unusual Native American Walnut Head Beaded Leather Horse Riding Doll"
This is a most unusual and display worthy piece. The doll appears to be made of stuffed leather, cloth, and hair. The trim of the horse blanket and the rider's clothes are beautifully beaded. The head of the rider is a front-facing walnut. The piece is definitely a quality item for display, and it comes with a Glass windowed Display Box. The. doll was acquired from an estate sale of an avid Native American Collector, with most of the pieces dating from the early 1800s-1920s. We purchased a large selection of the collection, as can be seen on our currently listed Hudson Bay Copper Trade Bead Pendants, dolls, and fetishes.
Measures approximately 9 1/2" tall x 8 1/2" Long (24.13 cm  x 21.59 cm).

Above:
Rare North and Judd Model A Coupe cast iron in red.
Toy is expertly restored with nice nickel wheels and unusual cast in rear trunk/
These are extremely difficult to find in any condition.
Length:  4" long (10.16 cm)

So that's it for today.

If you have any questions or would be interested in having a post written for you, please feel free to write me.

As always, enjoy a great part of the day or night, wherever you may be.

An Exceptional Seller on LiveAuctioneers

An Exceptional Toy Seller on

After a long time, I've been trying to get back into writing again. So, a few days ago, I went to visit the Liveauctioneers websites to see if I might be inspired by a new toy seller. A good amount of companies that had their own websites have now moved to to Liveauctioneers to sell their toys, but still maintain their own websites.

Sure enough, as I was perusing through the many toy sellers, one vendor attracted my attention.

Their description was very well written, but the last sentence caught my attention.

**We don't just shoot for the Moon, we overachieve and shoot for Marz**

The play on words of their company name "Marz" was comical and brilliant!

Of course, I had to see what toys they had, and again, another great surprise! Their photography is exceptional. It reminds me when after about a year of blogging, and using people's photographs "as is", I decided to remove any different colours that toys were placed on, and simply place the toy on a white background. I found that placing a toy on a white background focussed all the attention on the toys. I did this in the photo-editing software Photoshop. Aside from their placing their toys on a white background, their photography is excellent in terms of lighting, focus, and angling the toys to the camera, which makes the toy more 3-dimensional.

Naturally, I wrote to the company, and I got a reply allowing me to use their fine photos, as well as their descriptions.

I've made the written descriptions very brief. However, when you visit either LiveAuctioneers or the Marz Auction website, you will see very well-written descriptions of their toys that are up for auction.

Item details:

"Iconic Althof Bergmann Key Wind Fire Pumper with deluxe key wind mechanism.

You might want to visit the Marz Auctions website either at their website or on

In either case, both sites are excellent in terms of either bidding on toys that you might like or researching a toy that you would like to know more about.

So that's it for today, on a cloudy, cold, and snowy day
here in Montreal,Quebec (canada).
