An Exceptional Seller of

Old Toy Advertisements and other

Ephemera

My early morning starts with searching for my next blog post. I was checking out

ebay, when I came across a most interesting seller. The name of the store is

Mantiques and Baseball. This store sells ephemera, which is a rarely-used word for  rare collectibles, and mostly associated with paper. It could be posters, magazines, newspapers, and other forms of paper that can have photographs, artwork, and other kinds of images such as lithographs.

As you can see from the Mantiques and baseball screen-capture below, the

company has an excellent reputation, lots of followers, and has sold lots

of this type of collectible.

I wrote to the store owner for permission, and was elated to receive permission.

The owner, prefers to to have me communicate with him by his name

GDAWG

I wrote to the owner of Mantiques & baseball and I got his permission to wrote about his fine store and of course the fabulous collection of ephemera. I decided to limit today's post exclusively to old catalogue pages of toys.  Most of todays images were created for toy companies by illustrators or artists.  I admire people who can draw or sketch,  and old illustrations from old newspapers, magazines, or books are wonderful to look at.

Below:

Description:

1949 Paper Ad Tootsietoy Metal Toys

For those who don't know,Tootsietoys are small-sized die cast toys. The company was an American company, and produced lots of wonderful toys.

1948 PAPER AD 3 Page Wyandotte Toy Ad Pages

1934 Paper A.C.Williams Toy Roadster Coupe Cars

These toys were made from cast iron and had rubber tires.

If you've ever held a cast iron toy, you'll have a nice feeling.

They're heavy and solid.

It's amazing that these paper  pages are in such fine condition.

Some people find them and like to frame them and put them on their wall.

I've only presented a small sampling of what this fine store and GDAWG has to offer for anybody that collects old magazines, catalogues or advertisements.

His website is most interesting and fascinating. So if you like to look at old

magazines and toy catalogues, this is definitely the site to visit.

GDAWG's store is not limited to just toy catalogues.

exceptional photographs  from famous photographers such as Helmut Newton

and Yousef Karsh. The Karsh photos are of the gravure type. If you like

to look at fine photographic portraits, this also is an excellent place to look

at, and perhaps even purchase one of the fine images.

It's been a while since I visited the PowerCoupleDeals store on ebay. I wrote 2 posts last April (2024), and I was surprised to see the number of people who had visited their 2 posts. The visits or, as Google Blogger uses the term  "page views" have been higher than usual, so I was also surprised.

Originally, What attracted my attention was the large number of photos that

each and every listed item has. Also, the photographic lighting is simple

but well done. They use a soft lighting that reduces the dark shadows, and

allows for taking more photos in a shorter amount of time. By also using

a white foundation and background, an additional amount of light

reflects from the white foundation back onto the toy being photographed.

So that's it for today.

These fine toys are not inexpensive, and people like to collect them.

I'll bet that when adults buy these "models", when there is nobody around,

I can "imagine" that they play around with them.

Sometimes, some of us, just never grow up!

Thanks for dropping by, and as always, have a great part of the day or night

I'm always looking for new readers to have me write a post for them.

So if you have some nice toys and can take good photos,

I'm always available to write a post for you.

I first wrote about this exceptional ebay store just a month ago. I was searching

for a toy, and up popped hotdog explosion. There were several quality features of this store that caught my attention right away. The first was that cute dachshund logo.

When I was browsing the site, all the qualities of a good merchant were there.

Excellent photography, well-written and knowledgeable descriptions, and lots of photographs from different camera angles and different placement of each toy that was being sold.

Dimestore Cast Manoil Armored Army Truck

2.875" x 1" x 2"

I only selected 4 photos for each toy presented today. However,

HOTDOG EXPLOSION  presents between 8-12 photos for each

and every item listed for sale.

With that many photographs, you can see every detail from

all camera angles. That takes a lot of time, however, you see

all of the features of each toy.

So that's all for today.

It's cold up here in Canada today, so dress warm if you live in a cold-climate.

Thanks for dropping by, and as always,

Have a great part of the day or night,

wherever you may be.

If you ever want me to write a post about your toy or toys, please feel free to write to me. I'll giveyou some instructions as to to how to take a good photo, and

the size of the photos that work best for a post.

One of the sites that I often visit is ebay. There are lots of toy sellers with lots

of many different kinds of toys with a wide range of prices. A few days ago,

I did a fast search and found DWL Toys. I was ecstatic because this store not only had lots of toys to select from, but there were lots of photos.

For today's post, I'm presenting a nice

If you look closely at the store photo, you'll see that DWL Toys

has an excellent positive feedback from its' customers, and lots of feedback.

For today's post, I selected only one photo to introduce you to

DWL Toys. I never have seen this toy before, so that's why

I chose this particular toy for today.

I wanted to show you how many photos were taken to

present the toy with all its' features and to have viewers see the toy

from every different angle. I only selected 10 photos, and yet there were

still more photos for the viewer to look at.

You might not know this, but if you click on any photo,

the picture will enlarge, and you will be able to see all the

photos better and with small detail easier to see.

When you're finished looking at the larger-sized photos, simply press escape on your Apple keyboard ( I don't know what command to do on a PC keyboard)

So that's it for today. I hope everyone who came to my blog

had a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

I'm always looking for people to write me and send toys for a post.

When I revisited Mr. Hardy Littleton, the owner of stripe4107,

he had a great selection of Meccano toys for sale.

But the one toy that caught my attention was a French Meccano toy racer.

You don't see this particular toy very often, so it was nice to see this racer.

The description was as follows:

1930's French Meccano Red Boat Tail Race Car Model Kit 14"

So that's another post. Have a visit to Hardy Littleton's ebay store,

because there are a lot of interesting toys for sale there.
