Beautiful Bell Toys from Pook & Pook Inc.

Yesterday, I introduced everyone to Pook & Pook, a fine auction  house located 45 minutes from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). I had originally contacted them because I saw a wonderful group of cast iron bell pull toys.  I posted about the company yesterday, and today I wanted to present some of their beautiful bell pull toys.

What's  fascinating about these pull toys that clang when pulled behind a child is that there were so many different kinds and models of them made.  Some are modelled about famous biblical characters, while others are about paired animals such as a cat and dog. Most of them are beautifully sculpted, as well as having beautiful hand-painted colour schemes.

The sled toy above has a wonderful  feeling about it. The 4 youngsters are happily sledding  downhill. The colour is also very thematic in the warm tones.

Here's a toy excellently photographed by Pook and Pook Inc.
As the toy is pulled, the monkey's feet rise and then fall. The bell rings by an independent movement from the back wheels as they turn. The toy is wonderfully simple in design, yet the complexity is well crafted as to not notice this!

Just look at the work necessary to hand-paint  the vest of the father reading his newspaper on his sofa recliner. I'm assuming that he's holding some sort of rolling play toy in his hand.

The extensive texture to the toy and the detail in the cat and dog make this toy a nice collectors item.

Once again, we see a  beautifully-designed toy with a warm feeling as the young girl holds her small yellow doll.

A young boy catching a fish!

This toy has 3 bells. Two in the mouth of the horse, and one large one in the back.
AS the toy was pulled, the horse would move slightly up and down causing the front bells to ring.
Lots of action to this pull toy!  The front wheel moves the front rider, while the rear wheels move the two other riders. What's interesting to note is that the 3 horses and riders are all slightly different from each other.  I'd be curious to know of the figures were painted or the toy altogether at one time was a bright and shiny metal (unpainted).
This toy certainly is interesting. A pair of soldiers would dance in harmony and ring bells attached to them. At the same time, the 3 larger bells would also ring.

Lots of sculpted action in this toy. The young boy is certainly hanging on for dear life as the mule os seen galloping rapidly! The detail in the boy's outfit and the texture in the mule is super!

Thanks for dropping by,

and as always, have a great part of the day or night,
wherever you may be.
