I like to visit people and companies whom I'm written about before.

Stripe4107 is one of these fine stores and person. He always has a large inventory 

of toys, and his photography is excellent. Better still, is that there are plenty of photographs taken for each and every toy that is up for sale.

Hubley Cast Iron 5 Ton Truck/All original with no breaks or repairs. 

Hard and rare to find. Note that the floor of the truck is steel. Large 

and impressive toy. Comes with driver, not correct. 

Shows some normal wear.   Length:  16 1/2" (31.75 cm)

Description

Scarce American Carpenter Toys, Port chester, NY (USA),, Circa 1885.

Here is an excellent example of this scarce and charming toy. It retains the driver. Cast Iron 2-Horse Drawn Steam Pumper Fire Engine Toy. Thee carriage is marked "Pat. May, '84"; harness marked "Pat. Nov 16 '83", one  horse marked

'Pat. July 19, '81. One driver leads two horses atop a carriage with red wheels loaded with a gold-colored steam boiler, marked "14". All parts and paint appear original, with wear to reflect that such cast iron pieces were originally

intended as toys, and lovingly used that way. No breaks or repairs.

Rare Globe Cast Iron Policeman Motorcycle 9" (22.86 cm)

Very hard to find.All original made by Globe Mfg. Company. Handlebars appear to be original, black rubber tires marked "balloon 34 x 5 cord" which have hardened. Still rolls fines. some paint chipping and wear. The Policeman's original right leg was broken off, and has been repaired. see no other breaks or repairs.

Arcade Cast Iron Mack Fire Ladder dual Wheel Truck w/ driver

Impressive 18" Arcade 1930's cast iron Mack Fire Truck with original red paint and original arcade sticker. Mack cab with nickel hose reel with ladder supports,

seated nickel-plated driver, original bell, original rubber tires and disc wheels

with red painted centers, Arcade decal on side. There is a bell on the underneath with a clapper attached to the axle. As the axle turns, the lapper hits the bell, sounding like a real emergency. There is a bolted-in driver with a unitized steering wheel in his hands. Displays well with original cast iron driver and "Mack" embossed on the truck. The truck is in nice original condition with no cracks

or repairs. 

Cab is 18" (45.72 cm) long, with ladders 21" (53.34 cm).

I've written many posts about Emerald City Toys. It's always a pleasure 

to visit this fine toy site when looking to write a blog post. The photography is superb, the descriptions are nicely-written , and their toys are are

always interesting and refreshing.

Description:

"Kingsbury introduced this 14" (35.56 cm) long Panama dump truck in 1923.

 The truck is complete and original withgray paint with gold highlights. The clockwork motor works well, and the original white rubber tires are complete. The bottom dump mechanism works well."

Description:

"Arcade produced this great Chevrolet coupe in the 1930's. 

This toy is 8" (20.32 cm), and is original and complete. The Chevy coupe

is perhaps one of Arcade's most striking vehicles, well proportioned and

a beautiful casting. This example has no cracks or repairs, and would compliment any collection".

Description

 



Arcade made several versions of their cast iron ice truck in the 1930's. This example has excellent original medium blue paint with gold trim. The white rubber tires are original, and are in great condition, with some hub wear.The casting is perfect with no cracks or breaks. Two original glass ice cubes and metal ice tongs are included. Length 7" (17.8 cm)

 

Description:

Offered here is a great 1930's Hubley Terraplane roadster. The toy is 6" (15.24 cm) long and is original and complete. The red paint has some wear ,but shows very well. This version has the nickel-plated grill and chassis.

The white tires are age hardened and cracked, but are original and complete.

Introducing Kraft Auction Service

I'd seen Kraft Auction Service several times on LiveAuctioneer many times, but hadn't written to them to ask for their permission to write a blog post for them. If I had the time, I'd be writing blog posts for them about their numerous auctions. They have very interesting items that come through their auction company, but I have to stick with toys! 

Nevertheless, when I find the time, I'll have a look at their other auctions!

Their auction company is located in Northwest Indiana, USA., and so, I wrote to them to ask for permission to write a post about their auction that I saw on LiveAuctioneers. 

To quote their description from their excellent website:

"Kraft Auction Service is the premier Auction Company

based in Northwest Indiana with global reach, providing

services for equipment, estates, farm business liquidation,

collector cars, quality antiques and collectibles, benefit 

real estate, and consignment auction". 

The auction that caught my attention was on January 31, 2025.

It was titled:

"48th Anniversary Premier Toy Auction"

The auction was for their 48th Anniversary from when they first started 

in 1976. The toys were auctioned on 

"Day 6 of the Anniversary Auction"

and featured 1200+ lots of outstanding antique, vintage and collectible toys

including one of the best Cast Iron Collections in the country!"

What caught my attention even more was the excellent photography

and numerous photographs for each and every toy that was auctioned.

Kraft Auction Service uses such a diffuses soft lighting and their photography is excellent! Electronic  flash heads are attached to what are called "softboxes".

The flash head is attached to the back of a "softbox", and the front is diffused with a white diffused material. The resulting lighting is easy to use, and there are only soft shadows (if any). Sometimes several softboxes will be used.

Moreover, for each and every toy that was up for auction, there were many photographs for each toy. Since buyers are from all over the USA and even sometimes, the world, photographs of the toys going to auction have to

show the toy easily and without dark shadows, where the detail may not be seen.

For this introductory blog post, I selected a beautiful 

"Arcade Cast Iron Buick Sedan-Bank Version"

The description was as follows:

"Circa 1927- Arcade cast iron Buick sedan car. This us the very rare bank

version of this car. The car features rubber tires, Arcade Toy decal, and

nickeled driver. One of Arcades most desirable toys. Displays extremely

well with a great look and would be tough to find another. Measures 

approximately 8-1/2" long. From the Paul Link Collection."

(8 1/2" = 21.59 cm)

The reason for my having selected this toy is its' tactile feeling (sensation of touch).

If you ever handled a cast iron toy, you'll know what I meant by touching

a heavy weighted toy made of cast iron.

As you can see, their photography is excellent, and the photographer takes plenty of photos to present each and every toy from all sides, and top and bottom.

I was visiting  ebay  a few days ago, searching for cast iron toys. After "visiting" several stores I came across a store by the name od mikie70mach. There was only one item for sale, but Mikie has sold lots of toys, and his feedback (reviews) are excellent. 

The item shown today is:

 a Kenton cast iron Pontiac Sedan

Circa 1930

Length:  4.5" long (11.43 cm)

 "Car also has a trailer hitch, hidden in the rear bumper 

to pull 1 of two types of trailers" 

What I liked most about the listing was the excellent photography that 

Mikie had taken.

Arcade Bus Comes up for Auction

at Marz Auctions

    Lately, my next blog is decided by looking at whom I haven't written about

recently. When I find someone, I then go to their website and select the latest auction, or future auction. From there, I then select a group of toys to write about,

or  select one toy, and that's how today's blog post evolved.

I selected a nice bus from Marz Auctions, an auctioneers company. They are

 affiliated with Antique Toys Inc., another toy auctioneer. Both are very good companies who have established themselves in the old toy business.

I selected a toy, which I thought was an old Arcade cast iron toy from

a long-ago company by the name of Arcade*

However, as it turned out, this toy was a reproduction. 

Description and history of this nice toy from Antique Toys Inc.

"Ironman Toys is a business created by Arnie Prince in California to help

with cast iron toy restoration. His company spun off to make extremely limited 

and custom toys in the 80's,90's, and 2000's. He created his own Chevy Roadster, cast iron  motorcycles, and reimagined Ford roadsters (among many others). Arnie is considered one of the best restoration artists, and a premier toymaker.

His toys have been rising in price as collectors enjoy the metal art."
