The Master Toymaker Sends me
Photos of Another Toy

Christopher Ferrone

If you follow my blog, you will recognize the name of Mr. Christopher Ferrone. He's the president of  a company called Americoach Systems, Inc in Chicago, Illinois. The company is invoked in Specialized Transport Technology, safety, management and logistics.

I don't know where Christopher finds the time to make his wonderful toys when he is the President of a company, but he does. He's quite a craftsman, and he manages to find old toys to make his unique "newer" toys.

The photo below illustrates the unfinished parts of this steam-shovel. The truck is a  Ty-nee-tot,
while the steam shovel component is from a Structo toy. Both are from the 1940's. Chris also made some new parts for his composite brand-new steam-shovel truck.

Chris must have  a great tool are and presses in order to make his toys. I even wonder if he works on his large-sized "real" coaches.

I've paraphrased (rewrote Chris's words)  below:

THe boom has a hand crank to move the shovel up and down. This is not how the original toy was made. The rear stabilizers are also made, and are a modern-era component. The roof winch is from an old tow truck for the boom control for the boom control and for the payout (I assume "payout" means the unloading of the contents of the bucket).

Below is a photo of the finished toy. It certainly is beautiful, and still maintains an old look to it.

The image below is a well-taken photograph. It
illustrates how the shovel and bucket work to open the bucket to unload its' payload.

Below is an even better photograph.
You can tell from the front of the truck that it is from around the late 1930's-early 1950's. Chris knows his toys, and informed me that both toys are from the 1930's.

Below: A nice close-up photo of  working mechanism for cranking the bucket up and down.
Below:
A nice side view of the finished toy

If you search looking for Christopher Ferrone's name, you'll find his other fine toys that he has made over the years. It's always a pleasure to receive these "surprises", and to call Chris, a friend.

Thanks for dropping by,
and as always,
Have a great part of the day or night,
Wherever you may be.

Mr. Christopher Ferrone Says Hello

Mr. Christopher Ferrone
Says Hello

It's been an "acceptable " winter up here in Montreal (Quebec, Canada). The weather hasn't been took cold, and  the snow hasn't been too much. Also, the older that I get (I'm 68), the faster time seems to go by. It was just fall (September 22), when I started the countdown to spring (March 22), and as of today, there are only 25 days to spring!

Of course, there are still 2 months after the first day of spring until the weather is warm enough to prepare the grass, and start to mow the lawn. I can't wait!

Mr. Christopher Ferrone is one of my readers who  is the president of  Americoach Systems Inc., a company that  is in "Specialized Transport Technology, Safety, Management, and Logostics". Christopher specializes in bus transportation in Chicago, Illinois.  Chris also happens to be a toy enthusiast, and restores and innovates old toys into new ones. He's quite an "artisan", and very capable at what he does.

Today's post is his latest model that he has magnificently restored and innovated.

In his own words…...

"Hi Stacey

I hope you are well !!

and that the winter is not too harsh !!

I just finished a 1930 Marx/Studebaker custom fire truck

I started with just the cab and side fenders

I made the body/box and rear step, ladder racks, front bumper

I obtained a grill from another truck and customized it to fit this one

base coat / clear coat finish.........."retro red metallic, and clear

wood wheels

I hope you like it

thanks

chris"

I don't know where Chris finds the time to make such a nicely-restored toy firetruck, but he does.
It's always great to hear from Chris and see what his latest "piece-de-resistance" is .

Thanks Chris, and I hope all jus well with you and  Americoach Systems, Inc. in Chicago.

Old Toys Restored

Old Toys Restored

This week, I have lots of old toys arriving. The purchase price has been good, and they offer me the opportunity to photograph them. Of course, it's a lot easier to buy than to sell, but we'll see. Anyway, the purchase make for a great blog instalment. I could of course take any of my photo, and with enough time, I could bring it back to how it might have been - almost new. But that takes lots of time, especially if the toy has lots of dents and missing paint. So, let's take a look at these newly-restored toys. By the way, some of them don't have wheels and axles. I have the axles and wheels, but the axles seem either to be the wrong size, or maybe one has to heat the axle sleeves in order to have the axles fit them.
