Incredible All Around

     Partly cloudy, seasonal temperatures

Incredible All Around

As you know, I like to return to everyone who has helped me on my block to say hello, see how their doing, and to discover new toys that I haven't seen before.  I returned to The Antiques Storehouse (Great Britain, and on ebay) to find a nice collection of new items. However, the big discovery were these fantastic small airplane kits from the 1930's-1940's. The British company that manufactured them was Givejoy. When you look at the dimensions of these small models, how they were nicely assembled and painted, and how they lasted so long, you can understand my amazement. Better still though is how Mr. Andrew Bennett added the actual descriptions of the actual real airplanes of the era, which I added above each of the photo sets.

Andrew Bennett not only sells old and antique toys, but offers lots on the most interesting pieces of art, clocks, militaria (military items), nautical items, and scientific instruments from a mother era.  Interestingly, Andrew and his fine store have an actual location in Great Britain that you can visit at the link above.

The Description of the Actual De Havilland DH 9c
The De Havilland DH9  or Airco DH9, was a single engine biplane used a a bomber by the Royal
Airforce and Royal Flying Corps during the First World War.

Considering the small size and the light weight of this model, I would think that it was made of balsa wood.  What I find especially interesting is how this small old toy has stayed in such great condition for so long a time. As well, this is a small-sized model, which would have been no easy feat to assemble considering how small the actual pieces were!

The Description of the Pfalz D.III
The Pfalz D.III was a fighter aircraft used by the Luftstreitkrafte (Imperial German Air Sercvice)
during the First World War. The D.III was the first major original design from Pfalz  Flugzeugkerke. Though generally considered inferior to contemporary Albatros and Fokker fighters, the D.III was widely used by the Jagdstaffein from the fall of 1917 through the summer
of 1918. It continued to serve as a training aircraft until the end of the war.

The Description of the Actual FE 2B Night Bomber
Between 1911 and 1914, the Royal Aircraft factory used the F.E.2  (Farman Experimental 2) designation for three quite different aircraft that shared only a common "Farman" pusher biplane layout.

The third "F.E.2" type was operated as a day and night bomber and fighter by the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. Along with the single-seat D.H.2 pusher biplane and the Niuport 11, the F.E.2 was instrumental in ending the Fokker Scourge that had seen the German Air Service establish as a me sure of air superiority on the Western Front from the late summer of 1915 to the following spring.

The Description of the Actual FE 2B Night Bomber
The Sopwith Pup was a British single-seater biplane fighter built by the Sopwith Aviation Company. It entered service with the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service in the autumn of 1916. With pleasant flying characteristics and good manoeuvrability, the aircraft prove4d very successful. The Pup was eventually outclassed by newer German fighters, but it was not completely replaced on the Western Front until the end of 1917. Remaining Pups were relegated to Home Defence and training units. The Pup's docile flying characteristics also made it ideal for use in aircraft carrier deck landing and takeoff experiments.

The Description of the Actual FE 2B Night Bomber
The Sopwith Camel was a British First World War single-seat biplane fighter introduced on the Western Front in 1917. Manufactured by Sopwith Aviation Company, it had a short coupled fuselage, a heavy powerful rotary engine, and concentrated fire power from twin synchronized machine guns. Though difficult to handle, to an experienced pilot it provided unmatched manoeuvrability. A superior fighter, the Camel was credited with shooting down 1,294 enemy aircraft, more than any other Allied fighter of the war. It also served as a ground attack aircraft, especially near the end of the conflict, when it was outclassed in the air-to-air role by newer fighters.

Wow!

What can I say?

Excellent photography,  lots of photos, exceptional model airplanes from a company that I just discovered, great descriptions, and there are even more of the Givejoy models for sale on Andrew's ebay store to look at and even buy.

This certainly is a great start to the Month of October!

Thanks Andrew for your help!

Thanks for dropping by to visit,

Sell It Baltimore - A Fine Maryland Seller

Sell It Baltimore
A Fine Maryland (USA)Seller

At the end of last week,I came across a group of listings of Tootsietoy ships on E-Bay. I wrote the seller, Mr. Mike  Bendler, and he replied and asked me to phone him.  I did, and we had a very nice conversation, at the end of which I was given the permission to use his photos. I'm going to add the Tootsietoy ships today, and will return later in the week to write about Mike and his company.

Notice that I've also included Mike's company Sell It Baltimore's Facebook link below.  Mike asked me to check out his Facebook page, and I was very impressed. I write him back to say say,and that it has given me inspiration and motivation to work on my Facebook page. In this day and age, one needs all kinds of links on the Net to publicize and promote  - Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitter, and so forth.

As I mentioned, I was attracted to the set of Tootsietoy ships. What impressed me was the well-done close up photos of these small-sized die cast toys. They're at the most 6" ( 152mm), and Mike has done an excellent job at photographing them. I simple did my whitening effect, and these toys just sprung to life on the page. I once received a few of these toys by a seller who added them to what I had purchased. However, I didn't have the time to look carefully at them. With Mike's close-ups, I found a nice appreciation for them.  They're not the rarest and most expensive of toys, but they make wonderful collectables.

I always ask the person or company about whom I'm writing about to write something. Mike replied below with a short but very well-written narrative.

Sell It Baltimore is a Baltimore based company that buys and sells estates and has roots in the business starting back in the late 80’s.  Specializing in antiques and collectibles they utilize online sales via ETSY and ebay stores.  As an ebay Power Seller with an anchor store they sell tons of vintage and collectible toys, knives, and lighters, along with dozens of other categories.  As of 10/2013 their ebay store has over 6300 items listed.  ebay: sellitbaltimore1  Facebook: Please click here Web: Please click here

As you can see, Mike did an excellent job at photographing these nice Tootsietoy ships. I've added a photo of some die cast or lead vintage horses and jockeys that I thing was from a game. One of the horses tails is broken, but you can see what I did with these toys. They're beautiful items shat showcase well on anyone's wall.

If I was interested in the Tootsietoy ships, not only would I save them, but I'd make a picture frame and shadowbox for them.  They would definitely show well!

I like to fish, although I haven't gone much lately. However, I also made a shadowbox of small fishing lures to remind me. They make nice showcases when you have people over and  look at your wall hangings. They're always good for conversations.

Oldtoystoreusa - An Excellent E-Bay Store

Friday, March 15, 2013

Oldtoystoreusa
(An Excellent E-Bay Store)

I'd been searching for someone who would help me out with my next post - the Pocher Toy Company.  My Montreal contact fell through (Ugh!), and so I was still a searching. I did a search on E-Bay, and found the Oldtoystoreusa store.  I wan in heaven, as they say. So I wrote the store, and heard from Mr. Gary Hunt. With a brief note, I got his permission.

However, I thought to myself, where are my manners? I'd written about stores before, and then wrote about the "treasures" that I had permission to write about. So I wrote again to Gary Hunt back, explained that I would like to write about his store first, then the Pocher Toys (wait until tomorrow when you see these!).

Whenever I want to bid on an item on E-Bay, I check the track record (feedback) of the seller.  Of the 1041 transactions that I've had on  e-Bay, I can say that 99.5% of the people are outstanding sellers, and easy to deal with. I only ever had 2 slightly negative dealings, where I the customer was not satisfied. So that to me says a lot about E-Bay, and the people there.

Gary Hunt's feedback record is A++ after having been on E-Bay for 12 years, and  close to 59,500 transactions. E-Bay is hard work, and of you can stay there for 12 years, that certainly says something about the store, and more so about the owner!

Although I found the Pocher model cars,I saw plenty of very nice items that I had not seen before, and a company that I hadn't heard of before. That's on Gary's E-Bay store. However, Gary also has another store on the Web located at www. Dimestoretoys.com. There, you can find some very interesting items from the 1960's and a whole slew of interesting other items. I'll show you them later on.

I've only selected cars and trucks, but Gary has all kinds of items that he's sold and has currently at auction. If you venture on to his E-Bay store, you'll see a marvellous variety.

This was a very post today. I found some interesting items, an excellent E-Bay store, and best of all, Gary Hunt, who was able to help me out on  my blogging adventure.

Thanks for dropping by,
and have a great part of the day,
wherever you may be.
