Variations on Basic Cast Iron Arcade Toys

I was back again to Pook & Pook, Inc.   Their photography is excellent, and they have one of my more-favourite classes of  old toys - cast iron. Their auction will be happening on September 6th and 7th, 2013. As I was looking at their listings,I noticed slightly different variations in models of their toys.  I've seen this many times, and it's a common occurrence among manufacturers. Consequently, I decided to make this a post for today.

There wasn't a lot of description on these listings. However, with Pook & Pook, Inc., potential bidders can write them for both information and more photos. My second option was to go to Bertoia Auctions, where I found some more information.  "White" from the actual "real" truck company is on the front grill, having originally been there from the casting.  The orange truck has nickel-plated disc wheels, while the top blue truck has rubber tires. Both of these trucks have openings in their rear (no doors). The 2 trucks also came in other colours such as green, and would sometimes have special named copanies written on their sides.

In the case of these 2 trucks, I was off a decade (10 years), so the comparison is not quite compatible. The red model with gold trim is from the 1920's. It came in red, and at Bertoia, I saw a blue one. The green model is a 1930's model. It's tank body is tin, with a removable cap,, and the wheels are nickel-plated with painted  white rims and green centres. Notice also, the white stenciling on the side of the /body below the tank. The tanks was also useful, in that it could be filled with water for a child to play with.

The gasoline truck are the most expensive trucks on this post when it comes to auctions.

These two are described in Arcade catalogues as "Baby" . The red truck also has nickel disc wheels with red-painted centers.  The orange truck is also modelled after an International Harvester "stationary" truck.

You can see the slight differences in the  2 tractors. I don't know what year the rubber-tracted tractor is, but the other one is from the 1936 catalogue. In that catalogue
here is some additional information that I didn't have form the auction site:

Arcade 1936 Catalogue Information:

# 270Y Caterpillar Tractor - Diesel Type
