I've been to the Gasoline Alley Toys website many times. It's a great resource for looking at toys, and they have somethings that other website don't have. If you don't press on the address above, then please make sure to type their web address exactly as it is below:

The funny thing is that when I searched through my 1625 posts (as of today), 

I couldn't find posts that I had written about Gasoline Alley Toys. Naturally, I immediately e-mailed  them, and a day later I received a reply 

from Kari Christenson. Kari gave me permission, and wrote that there are photos also on their Facebook site with photographs. The company is located in Onalaska, Wisconsin, USA. I'll have to check where that is, but Google Blogger is underlining the city in red to note that the spelling might be wrong. 

I may have to contact Google for that!

Gasoline Alley Toys is a multi-functional company.

The screen-capture below illustrates that they are interested in buying toys,

and the list is quite long.

Gasoline Alley Toys also sells many different brans of toy part replacements.

Wow!  Had I known back when I started buying and selling toys, I  would have contacted them!

The screen-capture below is something of great interest to anyone

interested in old toys. They have videos on YouTube ©  that should be of

interest to anyone interested in toys. When I find the time to read the, I'll try and remember to edit this post and comment on the videos.

I was on the phone and  promised another employee

Revisiting Mr. Mark L. Hartman

          I don't know about you, the reader, but I find that the older I get (I'm 72), the faster the time goes by. On July 31, 2014, I had the pleasure to add a post about Mr. Mark L. Hartman. Below is the link to that original post on my blog:

        Fast forward and here's how I am writing this post. Someone from an Historic society wrote to me asking if she could use some of Mark's excellent photos from that blog post. So, I wrote to Mark, reminded him who I was (after 7 years, it's a long time for a busy person to remember who I am), and asked for his permission for this woman to use his photos. Being such a kind and good-natured person, and a great businessman, he wrote back and gave me the permission. 

     I had to check the old post to gather the information to check Mark's e-mail address on ebay.  I easily found it, and when I went to his "store", there were some very fine toys that I had not seen, just as when I had written to his 7 years ago.

Up here in Montreal, Quebec (Canada), I'm finally (after a year of waiting)

going to get my Covid-19  first vaccination. The medical people, people in their  

80's and 90's, caregivers, hospital nurses and aides, and others have already got then vaccination.

I'll be much relieved when I get my vaccine on March 19!

I know that some of you may not believe in this pandemic, but it is 

real, and too many people have been sickened and died from this horrific virus!

I'd seen this great website several years ago, and asked the owner if I might use his fine images and descriptions. Mr. Ed Sanford wrote back and gave me his permission. Not only are the photos and descriptions great, but as it turns out, Mr. Sanford is a world export on toys from around the world. Ed also is the founder of another interesting website titled RobotJapan.com, which as the title indicates, is dedicated to Japanese toys.

What makes Ed's website so great is that it's not only a site for selling toys, but also an excellent resource for finding about toys and their descriptions.  There is even a section for written articles about toys. 

On the site, the toys are sorted into different categories such as Maker (Manufacturer), Cast Iron, Tin Toys, Steel Toys, Plastic, and Wood, Paper, and other toys.

This  pressed steel toy comes with a truck and a tanker. 

The working trailer can crank on and off, and there are

two spigots at the back.

Beautifully restored  pressed steel toy from the Donald Kaufmann Collection.

The finish is a shimmering pewter colour with silver pinstripes.

Two Frogs Bank by J & E Stevens

Circa 1890's

Length:  9"  23 cm

Very fine condition

By placing a coin on the flat stomach of the small frog

and pressing the lever, the small frog kicks the coin into

the mouth of the large frog.

Cast iron toys were made from molten steel  that was poured into sand castingd. There were usually 2 symmetrical left and right sides made that were then riveted together. Early castings were brittle, but later the steel was more mild or elastic, allowing children to play with these toys without much breakage.

Dinky Toys appeared on the market in December 1933, but were called "Modelled Miniatures" until APril of 1934. THe production of Dinky Toys was begun at the same time in Liverpool, Britain, and in France at Bobigny. Both locations produced cars, trucks,buses,military vehicles, aircraft and ships. WHen WWII started, production stopped for the duration of the war, and reappeared in 1945,but there were no new models . New models started in 1946.*

I haven't been to visit Emerald City Toys in a long time.  I had looked at my 1200 plus posts,and came across Emerald City Toys, so I decided to revisit them. I found lots of interesting toys, and presented today are an eclectic (broad and diverse) group of them. If you visit their website you will see lots of toys that are well researched and described.

1920’s Buffalo Toys Red Streak Land Speed Race Car

This great light weight steel land speed racer was produced in the U.S. in the 1920’s.  Buffalo Toy toys are difficult to locate in good condition because of their light weight construction. 

The toy is 21″  ( 533 mm) long.

Wyandotte LaSalle Car & Trailer

Made in the 1930's of pressed steel and whute rubber tires, this toy was iconic for its' time.

Length:  25" 635 mm

Converse Boat Tailed Roadster

Painted pressed steel with clockwork motor.

Produced in 1908, this is a true antique.

Length: 15 " 380 mm

1930's Aerodynamic Tin Clockwork Coupe

Heavy tin clockwork coupe, perhaps made in France or possibly Germany.

Length:  10 1/2"  266 mm

1930's Well O London Clockwork Racer

Tin lithographed racer made in England with a clockwork motor.

Length:  8 1/2"  215 mm

1930's Wooden Coupe

An all wooden coupe made in the 1930's. Possibly made by Tillicum Toys.

This is a company made toy, and not folk art. 

All wood but for the hood mascot and the axles.

Length:  10 1/2"  265 mm

The Tillicum Company made toys under the name Tacoma. 

They were the largest toy maker on the west coast in the 1930's.

1930's Deco Japanese Tin Police Car

 Stylish pressed steel police car powered

by a friction motor. Not a high-priced toy.

Hubley Cast Iron Futuristic Coupe

Produced by Hubley in the 1930's. 

Original white rubber tires and red wooden hubs.

Tires have age damage.

Length: 6" 152 mm

Barclay Cast Slush Milk Bottle Truck

Barclay produced fairly rare due to fragile nature of large  slush cast toys.

The castings were fragile, as the material used to make the toy was very thin.

There is some metal missing on the underside (base) of this toy.

Length:  5"  127 mm

Nylco Walt Disney Cement Truck

An unusal toy truck. Specific information was not found on this toy.

Other Nylco cement trucks have had graphics on them .

Wood constructionwith paper graphics and metal cylinder. 

Movement was with a rubber band around the rear axle.

Length:  13 1/2"  343 mm

 I wrote about this fine company a few years ago,and forgot that I wrote about them.

In a search result for a future post, I was searching for cast iron take-apart toys, and a nice photo from Grand Old Toys  appeared. I clicked on the toy photo, and was redirected to the website of Grand Old Toys.

Part of the front page for searching for toys. Each of the titles above allow 

you to fill in for better search results. You can also simply fill in 

1 section to see what results will appear.

When you do a search in the database for a toy, 

a long list of toy manufacturers appears. I was doing

a search for "take apart" toys as research

for a future blog post on the subject.

Here are 2 results for "take-apart" toys.

The 2 results are from the cast iron company Kilgore

from the 1930's. Other companies at the time that made

similar take-apart toys were A.C.Williams, and I think Hubley.

Notice also the toys that appear to the right of the search result. If you click on any of the photos,
