A Return to an Excellent eBay Seller

If you haven't been visiting my blog, I'm glad to tell you that I've been returning 

to everyone who have helped me since 2011, and am writing new posts about them. So,

for today, I'd like to introduce toy to Masters Vintage Toy, Inc.

It's not an "original introduction" as I just recently returned to write a post about this excellent company on March 11,  2024.I must have been tired 2 days ago, when I did a search and found Masters Vintage Toys, Inc.again. I had searched to see whom I have written about, and up popped this excellent company on ebay. I looked at their store, and I was  amazed at how many small-sized old toys they had listed for sale on their website.

When you go to their store this is their introduction:

"We sell a wide variety of vintage and antique toys including toys from the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's. We have one of the largest antique toy stores on eBay, so please be sure to check out our store to find that must have item that you have been missing from your collection. We are constantly purchasing new items from collections, estate sales, auctions, flea markets, etc. so be sure to check back often if you do not see the item you are looking for."

They have a large inventory with a broad range of prices 

depending on the rarity of the particular item, the condition, 

and if it comes with the original box.

On this visit, they had a large assortment of Dinky toys.

What I like about  Masters Vintage Toys,  Inc. is that they present a lot

of excellent photos for you, the buyer to look at the item for sale. 

Their photos are separate.

What I did is to assemble from 4-6 images together in 1 composite photo.

A Revisit to an Excellent ebay Seller

If you follow my blog, you'll know that I've recently been revisiting the many kind people 

and companies who have granted me permission to use their photos, and write about them or their companies.

I had to go back in time and check just when my first blog post was about 

Masters Vintage Toys, Inc. As it turned out, my first blog post for 

Masters Vintage Toys, Inc.  was on November 2, 2016. 

Wow, how the time flies, as the expression goes. 

When I visited ebay yesterday, I looked for a toy from Masters Vintage Toys, Inc. 

that would be "special"  for this post. I found an interesting Ingap toy.

The toy is an INGAP 1937 Fiat Tin Windup Streamline Coupe. 

I haven't seen many Ingap toys over the years that I have been blogging.

The INGAP name is an acronym ( an abbreviation of letters representing words).

In the case of INGAP, the letters represent the 

"Industrial National Automatic Toys Padova", an Italian toy company

that was founded by Mr.Tullio Anselmi. The company started in 1919, 

and sadly, closed down in 1972. At it'st peak, the company employed 600 people (1938).*

* I found this information through a Google search, and paraphrased 

(wrote in my own words) the above paragraph.

This toy happens to be about 9" (22.86 cm ) long

I'll be returning to this excellent toy seller in the future, to find out what other fine toys that I can write about. When I went there recently, he had lots of toys to sell! 

Bravo!

The Times They Are a-Changin'

    There's a song title by the famous American folk singer, Bob Dylan. The name of the song is

"The Times They Are a-Changin". And so it goes with toys and toy auctions. In the last couple of years, well-known American toy auctioneers have joined an ever-growing auction website by the name 

liveauctioneers.   

    I haven't contacted the many auctioneers whom have allowed me to write about them, and of course use their excellently-photographed toys at their auction websites.  But in the last 2 years, I've noticed that several respected and renowned auctioneers have joined 

liveauctioneers.

    Interestingly, many of them still retain and maintain their websites, along with the ability to view their auctions. Bidding takes place on LiveAuctioneers, and I'll have to contact one of the fine American toy auctioneers to see if bidders can still bid on both their websites, as well as on

 liveauctioneers.

Liveauctioneers is a website that  has become very popular and has got quite large. It's a website that allows all kinds of different types of auctioneer companies to present their merchandise and auctions there. If you go there, you will see all kinds of different types of merchandise. Naturally, I've only written and presented old and antique toy auctioneers.  I've only presented a small number of companies that I've written about, but there are also, many more that you will find on this website.

CYBERTOYAUCTIONS is another well-known American auction company that now can be found on liveauctioneers.

I've started to present Dinky Toys on this blog. They were, and still are one of the most popular miniature toys that were made. I was able to get permission from Vintage-Toymasters to write about them and their fine Dinky Toys available for sale on ebay.  The reason for my having selected Vintage-Toymasters, is that they have a fabulous selection of older Dinky Toys available for sale.

Introducing Vintage-Toymasters Fine Selection of Dinky Toys

Dinky toys were originally made in Liverpool England. As Dinky Toys became more popular, these toys were also made in France. Most of the model toys were reproduced after British vehicles, although there were some modelled after then famous and popular American cars.

As you can see, Vintage-Toymasters certainly has a fine grouping of early Dinky Toys.  They also present excellent photography with large-sized photos that always help to present the toys in their best manner. I haven;t added much narrative because I thought that these fine old toys tell the story much better.

A Rarer 1941 Steelcraft Bus

   I was pleasantly surprised to receive an e-mail from Mr. Christopher Ferrone of Chicago, Illinois (USA). He asked had my winter had been, and presented me with a series of photos of a 1941 Steelcraft bus.  If you follow my Blog, Chris is the president of a  called Americoach Systems, Inc. which is a Specialized Transport Technology, Safety, Management and Logistics company. How Chris manages to restore and customize toys on top of being the president of a busy company is beyond me, But I assume it's his passion and his liking to work with his hands. 

  As far as the winter was up here, it was "varied". Warmer than usual but February and March were cold, and March 21 and 22 still had snow.  Unfortunately, we don't really have a spring to speak of up here in Montreal, Quebec (Canada).  While our west coast of British Columbia now has their flowers starting to grow, we still have cold weather. The warm weather doesn't really start here until mid-May.

   As far as the 1941 Steelcraft bus goes, it is rare. As Chris explained  for the toy being "special", the reason being that it was manufactured in 1941 during the WWII years. Metal was being used for the war effort, and many toy manufacturers were asked to use wood  instead of metal by the USA government. 

Christopher also happens to have a Trailways (successful American bus  company) bus franchise. 

For a 75 year old toy, it's actually in a very good condition 

The paint has been removed, the lettering removed, and auto body filler has been added to smooth out any dents or rust.

The finished Steelcraft bus, beside a smaller Trailways bus. Notice the red and yellow colour theme that CHris used on his restoration.

I'm sure this toy will be around for another 75 years!

  And so once again, Chris has done a fabulous job restoring an old toy.

   I've been returning to people and companies who have helped me out in the past. SO when I was looking at my posts, I found Pook & Pook,Inc.

The History of Pook & Pook

"The firm of Pook & Pook Inc. was founded in 1984 by Ronald and Debra Pook. Located in Chester County, Pennsylvania, approximately thirty-five minutes west of Philadelphia, Pook & Pook’s offices reside in an old stone inn built in 1761. The auction company grew out of the Pook’s antique business, which they had started a decade earlier in the same location. Right from the start, the auctions at Pook & Pook were a draw for major museums, estate representatives and serious collectors."

Wood toys have always been popular among children and manufacturers as well. From early history, wood, a readily-available natural material could be used.

 A "pull toy" is a toy that is either pulled with a stick or a long piece of cord. 

Before wind-ups and electricity, many toys that were not played with by hand, could be pulled.

You can see several pull toys in the 2 following photographs.

Even in Japan and other countries around the world, there are wooden toys.

The 2 larger horses and a donkey (mule) are also pull toys. THese happen to be made of lithographed paper images glued on to wood. 

The clown and chick toys are "animated" when they are pulled. THe clown swings and moves his weight, while the young baby chicks are in a pulling "tug-of-war" for the worm.

   It's always nice to hear from people whom I can call my friends, and so it was today. I opened my e-mail and lo and behold, I had a friendly greeting from Mr. Chris Ferrone.  Chris is the president of his own company  called Americoach Systems, Inc. "The company specializes in Specialized Transport Technology, Safety, Management, and Logistics".

   When Chris is not busy working, he creates interesting new toys from old.  Below is the e-mail that he sent me:

I didn't know if you are "still in business" so I sent you some photos of my newest truck (toy)

the cab is a 1930's ty-nee-tot dump truck

the box is from a 1930 Keystone fire truck

the ladder turret tower is from a 1930 keystone fire truck

the ladder is from a 1950 Tonka fire truck

and I made the remaining pieces

Of course I like Chris'  new truck that he titled "Frankenstein". However, this fine new composite is much more than poor old Frankenstein. I admire people who can work with their hands and create things. 

Currently, I'm taking a drawing course to try and improve on what I can draw from sight. However, I think that you have to be born with this "talent". I'm working on creating form (3D) on paper, but everything keeps coming out 2D as shape or outline. As a photographer I can easily create 3D, but as far as drawing goes - I can't.

You can see the skill and "eye" that Chris has, and the find job that he did in integrating 2 different toy company parts into one single unit.

The ladder parts are from a 1950's Tonka  firetruck

Also, whatever parts were missing or needed to be made, were in fact made by Chris.

He certainly must have an outstanding garage to repair his "real" trucks, while using the "shop" to work on his smaller toys.

I especially like the extra length of ladder and how the ladder extends from the rear of the fire truck.

I like how the truck is well-balanced to accommodate the ladder placement extension at the back!

Notice the small bell behind the fire truck cab. Proportionally it's actually quite big, and must make a great noise for any young child!

Notice the attached wire pull at the front of the toy. 

Chris also made that himself for children to pull the toy.

For the "purist" toy collector, I'm sure some people would say that these rejuvenations of old toys are "heresay". However, these new reincarnations are truly great, and AI'm sure any child would simply adore them.

I'm always interested (as are some of my readers) in people who restore old toys, so if there is anyone out there who would like to be a contributor to my blog, by all means please write me.
