An Excellent Toy Seller on ebay

I first wrote about this exceptional ebay store just a month ago. I was searching 

for a toy, and up popped hotdog explosion. There were several quality features of this store that caught my attention right away. The first was that cute dachshund logo. 

When I was browsing the site, all the qualities of a good merchant were there.

Excellent photography, well-written and knowledgeable descriptions, and lots of photographs from different camera angles and different placement of each toy that was being sold.

I only selected 4 photos for each toy presented today. However,

HOTDOG EXPLOSION  presents between 8-12 photos for each 

and every item listed for sale.

With that many photographs, you can see every detail from

all camera angles. That takes a lot of time, however, you see

all of the features of each toy.

A Revisit to a Wonderful Seller of Old Toys

It's been a long time since I wrote  a post for Emerald City Toys.so I was happy when I visited the website and found lots of nice toys. I didn't want to present too many toys, so I selected 2 fine toys.

What is very nice on a toy merchant is when the photography is excellent, and there are many images to show the potential buyer the condition of the toy is, as well as what the features are.

There were plenty of nice toys to show, but I selected 2 nice toys.

Toy # 1 Description

"This great 12" (30.48 cm) lithographed tin clockwork Cadillac was made

by Mars in 1932. The toy is in spectacular original condition, and is complete in every way. The colors are bright and shiny, and the clockwork motor

functions properly. This toy is seldom found in this condition.

Toy # 2 Description

"Marx made this huge 16" (40.64 cm) Stutz lithographed tin roadster

in 1928. It has a strong clockwork motor, and is complete and original.

The lithography is bright, and the colors are stunning. It is in excellent

condition with no damage or oxidation. A seldom seen toy in this condition

So that's it for today. Two old toys in very good condition and soon to be centenarians ( 100 years old). It's truly amazing how certain collectibles 

are kept from generation to generation over time.  It's great to see that some collectibles will always be around for the next generation(s) to  see

what children played with before them.

  Earlier this past week, I had just finished my first post about 

Selkirk Auctioneers and Appraisers. The next day, I went to search 

for more toys.

There was a whole auction of toys, but what best caught my eyes were 2 Tippco airplanes that were beautifully photographed. After I had written and posted Selkirk's first post, I wrote to them to proofread the post. But I also commented 

how excellent their photography is.

Today's post is about 2 Tippco airplanes 

The Tippco Toys Company was a German company started up in 1912

by Mr. Philipp Ullmann. It became very successful and had manufactured lithographed tin toys in Europe. 

Airplane # 1

Description:

D-IGAN Tippco Double-Decker Fighter Airplane

German, circa 1940 , lithographed tin.

Wingspan:  14 1/2 inches x 10 inches (36.83 x 25.40 cm)

As you can see, the photography is excellent. Using a white background and hanging the toy planes by a wire line, gives them a sense of flight.

What I also like about Selkirk Auctioneers and Appraisers is that they provide lots of photographs for potential auction bidders to clearly see what they are bidding upon.

Airplane # 2

Description:

D-Olaf Tippco Single Wing Bomber Airplane

German, circa 1940, lithographed tin.

With composition pilot and four original bombs

that accept caps. Bombenflugzeub (Bomber Plane)

Wingspan x Length: 

  14.30 inches  x 10 inches

36.32 cm x 25.4 cm

   Some of the people that I get to help me out, communicate more than others with me, and weof become friends. Malinda Trollinger is one of them. I got to know Malinda when I saw some exceptional well-done photography on ebay.  She's selling a fine collection of toys that here father collected over 55+ years. Recently, Malinda write to say how nice my blog is, but in all honesty, I just write, and photo-edit the photos. The real platitudes should be directed to all of my guests,, Malinda included.

  The last time that Malinda wrote, I decided to see what she was selling,and it turned out to be my favourites  of the small-sized toys - Tootsietoys and some fine Hubley small-sized diecasts.  Not everyone takes advantage of  ebay's offer to upload 12 photographs for free, but Malinda does. Also, she's very honest in her descriptions of her items.  I had to look at some of her descriptions to see what small faults there were with some of the toy descriptions. As the old expression goes - "Honesty is the best policy", but  Malinda is angelic compared with some sellers that I have purchased from!

I like how Malinda has a sharp eye for noticing things. One of the nuances (small subtlety) of die cast toys is their small faults, which aren't really faults at all. Malissa noticed that 3 of the 4 cockpit windows are sealed from the diecast process. This is the "beauty" of these small toys,.However, I'm 1000% sure that if I had such a toy in the 1950's, for sure I would have filed away this characteristic of these toys,and lost the true value if I sold it on ebay.

In my last reply to Malinda, I wrote to her saying that she should see if there is a market for her talents  hear where she lives. Even I have learned from her photography. I admire how she photographs from different camera angles, uses some distortion to her photographs, and presents nice details of the features of toys that merit being shown to viewers.

When I first started selling on ebay, I had the blue Coupe, that Malinda is selling. As well, I had many other die cast toys. However, they never looked so good as the photos Malinda took of these "little guys". At the time, I wanted to be sure to show the toys well on ebay. 

Malinda had shown me that you can be creative and sell toys at the same time. As an aside, our dog Buddy can learn new tricks and he does and he's 14.  I think there's even hope for me yet - I'm 66, but it dog years, I'm younger than him - I'm 7 1/3 years - that definitely sounds better!
