Insurance Patrol w/ Box

I've been blogging since January 19, 2011, and what I originally liked from Milestone Auctions was their clean and neat photography.  Soft and diffused lighting is used, and the item (s) for sale are placed on a white base and background (seamless paper).

The owner of  Milestone Auctions is Mr. Miles King, and it was he personally who wrote back and gave me his permission to write about his fine company and to use his photos on my blog.

Whenever I'm adding a blog post, I like to visit either the website or the auction site where a collector or a company is selling their merchandise. I start by go through the list of 1629 posts (this post will be the 1630th), and see who I haven't written a post for in a while. 

When I chose Milestone Auctions today,  I was very surprised 

and excited to see a toy that was unique. The description was very exciting 

for myself,  but I'll let you decide. It's not often that you see a toy going to 

auction that is the prototype and was never chosen to be mass produced. 

I wonder why not?

Description

"Only known example of the Insurance Patrol with Headlights and Bumper.

Still has Factory Prototype Tag that says "205 C 1928 9 LBS". Truck came

from the Buddy L Morgue Sale. All original with near mint paint and decals.

Still has pull cord and Buddy L tag.This truck was never put into production.

A wonderful addition to even the most advanced collection.

Comes with original Buddy L Box with Blue Stripe Paper. This toy sold at the

Buddy L  Morgue Auction for around $ 40,000. One of the most important

Buddy L Toys there is. 27" Near Mint."

Firestone Tow Truck

            Lately, I've been writing  more than my usual number of posts.  I have lots of time on my hands due to this pandemic, as I stopped doing volunteering work at a local food bank, here in Montreal. I'm a "senior" now, and older people are more prone to getting more sick from the Corona Virus.

Anyway, I'd been looking through my old posts, and just by chance I saw a nice wooden toy that was nicely photographed. That toy was made during WWII and it was made from wood, as metal was in  high demand for the war effort and the making of armaments. It turned out to be owned by Mark L. Hartman, a seller on ebay.  Mark, another excellent  seller on ebay was selling it.

Returning to today's other "rare" toy, here is the description that Mark wrote to me:

  "I know it was from 1953 based on an International Harvester Cab design and came with the Jack pictured and I believe tools that I don't have. Tire axles had acorn nuts that screwed off so you could change a flat? Private label Firestone decalling...nothing said Buddy l except script on the wheels...that is all I got...let me know when you post...MARK"

A Third Discovery of an

Extremely Rare Toy

  Three day ago, I added my first post on Pook and Pook, Inc. I started with one post, then two,then three, and now this is my fourth. Today's post is about a Niederst steam shovel toy. I had posted on June 1, 2013 about the first one of these. Supposedly there were only 2 of these to be known as of 2000 from Myra Yellin Outwater and Eric B. Outwater's Book (Cast Iron Automotive Toys - P. 231). However, upon looking at this item, Bertoia Auctions (My post on June 1, 2013) sale, and this listing by Pook and Pook, Inc., this would make this the third one to appear! What happened to all of the others would be a mystery that I'd like to know? How many were originally made? And are there any more we don't know about?

 This cast iron toy measures 18" (.457M) in length. What's great about seeing the second toy is the fact that the Pook and Pook website allows you to magnify the image. I would like the entire image to enlarge, so it would make it easier to post the close-ups that Ive attached. However, I easily worked with what they have, by screen-capturing 3 images, and them carefully assembling them together in Photoshop.

It will be interesting to return to the Pook and Pook Inc. website after the auction is over to see what this rare Niederst toy received at the final hit of the auction gavel.  It's always interesting to write about old toys, and even better when you find a very "rare" toy!

Update September 9, 2013:
 This very rare toy sold for $ 8,500.00 at auction.
Bravo to the collector who placed this toy up for auction, 
Pook and Pook - the fine auctioneer, 
and of course, to the new owner of this very rare toy.
