The reason for revisiting  JaysModels (DIECAST REPLICAS) is that his original post (February 20 2013 ) has been viewed 5,864 times. When I originally wrote about JaysModels, the blog was an  exception to my usual postings of old and antique toys. Jay's website has exceptional diecast models (not toys!). However, I couldn't resist the chance to write about these toys. I had tried to have large model companies send me a sample, or I'd go to a local model store, but even with offering the value of the toy to "borrow" a toy, I had no luck!

Below is the link to the original post from 7 years ago:

These diecast replicas are just unbelievable, since you get to see "up close" what you usually have to see far away in real life. At the time I was highly elated to have received permission to use their models and write about them.

Most of today's models are scaled to 1:50, 1:48. There are also 1:24 and 1:16
What a  1:50 scale means is that these diecast replicas are 1/50 the size of the original "real"machine.

Here's an example:
Model is 1:50 and is 10" (254 mm) long
The real machine is
10" x 50 = 500" (41.66 'long)
or in metric
254 mm x 50 =12,700 mm/1000 = 12.7 meters

So that's it for today. I can't believe how fast the time is going by.
It's already May 14, 2020 and summer is almost here.
Unfortunately , 5 days ago it snowed here in Montreal, and in the Gaspé there was 30 cm (11').

Hopefully, things will get much better in the second half of this year.

All the best to all,
and have a healthy and happy day or evening, wherever you may be.
