A New Visit to a Very Special Model Website

Overcast and Damp

It's been a while since I wrote about Old Model Kits. So I wrote to Alan
and asked how he was, and of course how his very special company was doing.
I also asked for a renewed permission to use his fine photos and descriptions.
In a short time, Alan wrote back and in a friendly way gave me his permission
to write another post about his fine company and him.

When I was "younger", one of the things that I liked and my father encouraged
me to do, was to put together model kits. I put together perhaps 5-6 kits, and of course learned the hard way, how not to put these wonderful toys together.

One time, I assembled a model airplane without reading the instructions!!!!
That was the first and last time I ever did that! I was assembling a Revell airplane
and put the left and right sides together. I then looked at the unassembled loose parts, and immediately was shocked!

I had forgotten to place the propellers in place before I glued the 2 sides of the airplane together! That was one lesson I learned very quickly, and that was the last time that I didn't read the instructions on anything!  Fortunately, the airplane did not melt from the glue, nor did the glue stretch out 2 feet!

Alan has one of the finest model kit website stores that I have ever seen. He has kits made of different materials, such as plastic and balsa wood. I remember that there were wood model kits, but I always assembled plastic models. His kits include renowned brand names such as Aurora, Monogram, Revell, Heller, and a myriad of other brand names. Among the brand names, there are trains, planes, boats, and ships in all sizes and shapes.

What I find most interesting and wonderful is the fact that some of the kits that Alan is selling, are from the 1940's or early 1050's. That's truly amazing! I'll ask Alan if anyone ever assembles the kit, but I would think that most people are collectors, and save the kits with all their parts.

What I also like is the hand drawn artwork that you see on some of the covers.
I alawys admired people who had the talent to be able to draw.

So that's it for today.

I hope that you liked this post. For myself, it brings back fond memories
when I was young and enjoyed assembling model kits.

Thanks for dropping by, and as always,
have a great part of the day or night,
wherever you may be.
