Ertl Tractors
Farm machinery "replicas" or models have always been popular, especially among farming people. Ertl started manufacturing farm tractor models and attachments since 1945. THey would obtain licenses from such companies as John Deere, Case, International Harvester and a few other companies, and make small models usually in the 1:16 scale. The company is based in Dyersville, Iowa, USA, which also happens to be the location of the National Farm Toy Museum.
In the 1990's, the company expanded from just producing farm machinery to also include toys or collectibles such as trucks and cars. The company was eventually purchased by Racing Champions, and that also was acquired by the RC2 Corporation. The location in Dyersville used to produce the farm machinery models. However, by the late 1990's production moved to Mexico. Currently, production is also being handled in China.
Thanks to my being allowed to access the large database from Buffalo Road Imports, LLC, I am able to present a vast array of fine models that are being produced today. I have tried to contact the Ertl company, but like other companies, I often do not get replies, and sometimes I get a no answer.
Fortunately, With companies who sell or auction toys and models, I still can write about these fine items.
If there are any farming people who follow this blog, you are always welcome (as anyone else) to write to me. I'd really like to be able to write and present the huge modern machines such as the harvesters, the air-conditioned tractors, the sprayers, the different crop harvesters and so forth.
Thanks for dropping by,
and as always,
have a great part of the day, wherever you are.
