Matching Arcade  Toys 

to Their Original Catalogues

I just received copies of the  1927 and 1936 Arcade toy catalogues. Between the # 33 issue (1927) and the # 51 (1936) catalogue, the number of pages in the catalogue dropped from 121 page to 36 pages. Many of the toys manufactured  almost 10 years earlier were no longer made. The reasons probably were many. I can only write what I've read, but several reasons stand out.

1. Changes always occur with new toys coming out.

2. The Great Depression took its toll  and companies downsized to stay in business.

3. The cost of rail transportation increased, and cast iron toys were heavy.

4. Pressed steel was already in production, and materials and labour were less expensive for production.

I was busy yesterday, so I haven't identified which of the 2 catalogues 

match the toys. 

Another rainy day today. However, the good news is that the 90 degree Fahrenheit (34 degree Celcius) weather will be passing, as the weather gets cool.
