Today's post has to do with paint stripping and repainting. There are 3 major reasons to strip and repaint an old toy.
1. You like the toy more than the financial value.
2. You worry about the lead content of the vintage paint.
3. The item had been re-painted and the fine detail has been lost.
If you are reading this now, the article is not finished. I stripped the 4 cars today, and I'll give them a coat or auto primer tomorrow, and the next day, I'll start the painting.

The above photo shows the 4 cars that I'll be refinishing.
There's still some paint removal to be done,
but that I'll have to do with a small pointed object such as a pin.

As you can see from the close-up photos, there is a lot of fine detail that the die cast method was able to capture in the mould.
If there is too much paint that was added with a re-painting, then the paint will fill the fine detail and smooth out the detail. As a consequence, the fine detail is lost!
